About ICA&AD

The collecting of pieces of art and antiquity, actively developed within the
territory of the Russian Federation and CIS countries for the last 15 years,
required a prompt decision of an essential problem. To create a
representative association which has to determine the processes on Russian
art & antique market, that was an urgent item as never before. Sides, the
state and participants of the market are interested in the legalization of
the market. Recent tendencies are characterized by presence at the market
the number of regional associations of professional antique dealers,
galleries, antique salons and auction houses from the one side, and
independent art dealers from the other side.

The realities of present time assume the existence of civilized market where
parties united and defined with aims and purposes could exchange with
information concerning sale and purchase of cultural values. It should be a
coordinating institution based on international agreements and regional law.
Professional antique and art dealers realized the necessity of creation the
wide range association which is able to collect all together the existing
elements of the market. Thus in 2004 the International Confederation of
Antique & Art Dealers (ICA&AD) was founded. ICA&AD is open for antique & art
dealers of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other regions of the Russian
Federation and CIS and only to those who meet the requirements of
Confederation and accept the Code of Practice.

The aims and activities of ICA&AD are:

To assist to preservation of a cultural heritage;
To develop and strict follow to ethical Code of Practice for traders of
art and antiquity;
To provide with information concerning works of art that may be of general
or particular interest for members of ICA&AD;
To develop communications between members of the Confederation;
To encourage the exchange of experience between the members of ICA&AD;
To assist of unification of commercial terminology in the field of art and
antiquity, according to the international accepted norms;
To encourage the scientific researches in the field of antique and modern
art;
To promote the interests of members of ICA&AD before governmental and
municipal institutions as on international level;
To represent the interests of members of ICA&AD at international
associations of art and antique dealers out of the territory of the Russian
Federation and CIS;
To assist the members of ICA&AD in participation at national and
international antique and art biennale, exhibitions, fairs, conferences and
other events;
To develop the scientific and publishing projects.
